Jana,in another thread you mentioned attempting Arabic...I took Arabic in middle school <7th/8th grade>. It was a staffing error or last-minute problem and the teacher we were supposed to have, didn't happen. When we came in, the teacher who actually was there, explained he knew several languages <Spanish, Italian, French, Dutch and Arabic I think were the ones> and which one did we want to learn?
I'd been taking Spanish for a few years then and had no interest in German and I had a familiarity in general with how many of the Romance languages worked since I'm good with languages...Hebrew and Arabic are similar, so I was up for Arabic. Enough other kids were too that we ended up Arabic instead!
It was just very basic intro. stuff that you'd get with kids our age at that level but it was lotta fun
