Go Jamaica :: Jamaican deaf drivers hit the streets in September :: News

Mr Gallimore has announced that by the end of August, deaf persons will be able to obtain a license to drive in Jamaica.

Already several members of the police force and the island traffic authority have been trained in sign language.

Mr Gallimore said the Government is prepared to change the regulations requiring deaf drivers to affix a signaling device to their cars.

The junior minister said this is because the prospective deaf drivers have been finding it very difficult to obtain the device.
