I'd like to give the new pup a bath when he comes home.

It is okay right, I mean he's in a small stable with hay and who know's what she's been lying on?

My Dad say's no, but I mean I gotta do this.

We always just give them a bath once every four years or so anyway -
but I've also read that for the elderly dogs with skin disorders washing their skin with Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar is the best, with the water of course.

Recommendations please.

No...you have to wait till puppy is 12 weeks old.

I cannot give my puppy a bath at 8 weeks so I waited till 12 weeks old.

Eww! It sounds like your puppy might have been cover with feces and something else. Why did your dad buy that puppy from that breeder at the barn? I wouldn't support the puppymill business running. This needs to shut down so the only way to do it is not buy any puppies from there.

What kind of skin problem does your puppy have now? Does she have a manage? Is she losing some hair? Or just dry skin? I would start feeding her natural pet food and check for health problems at the veterinrian. I bet you that she has coccida and other parasties. Save her poop sample and take to the vet if you can. If she's dirty and smelly, I would bath her with vinger and other shampoos/conditioners. Your dad is pretty stupid to bath his dogs once every four years. I usually bath my dogs every once in two weeks/three weeks.

I agree with GA, wait til 8 weeks...

if your dog need to be cleaned, get a wet rag and just wipe him/her off. put on perfumes!!! lol no.. really, you can only bathe dogs after 8 weeks old.

I agreed with GalaxyAngel and LakeTahoe, just watch to make sure the puppy looks fine then giving puppy a bath...

One pup they had there was 10 weeks old and was just a bowlful of joy.

We usually get dogs from families but can't seem to find any this year but people have the same ads in the papers all the time so obviously my Dad won't call them but he doesn't remember being at this place years ago and walking away.

This particular breeder also sells working dogs for the airports and border, so maybe he just really does have little barn stables for them where they are kept in big cubicles with hay instead of being outside or kept downstairs like we're used to. I still don't like the fact that the guy couldn't even look at our faces when he was talking to us, but I'am the kid of the family so anything I say doesn't mean squat.

He advertised in Dogs Canada Magazine, and that's how I found him but he was the closest place to our city and that's about 45 minutes away. Most breeders are breeding beagles with other canine types and pugs nowadays.
And a very sad fact is that beagles and greyhounds are used for medical research more than any other breedtype of dogs.

Someone on the list seems to think I'am the breeder, I'am not.
I love beagles and dogs of all types.

I'll wait till 12 weeks, and just use a cloth to dampen her with a teeney bit of Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar when nobody's watching!

I would give puppy bath if fleas infested or.. skin irrations.. would have vet look at.. and will give you special shampoo..

but normally puppies with great health.. and coming home from other places.. I would give a quick little dog shampoo and rinse real good then bundle with towel.. and carry puppy like you baby them.. that will make them feel they are loved and secure..

hehe..

Umm I looked into your profile and you were born in 1968. How can you be a kid?

You are older than I am. I don't understand how can your parents view you as a kid? :ugh:

I love dogs and have been involved in Schutzund for two years. I was a veterinary technincan for 4 years. I'm in my third years at University of Arizona. I might go to veterinary school at Uni of CA, Davis after graduation.

I love working with one of my dogs in protection, tracking, and obedience.

I'm breeder of British Bulldogs
Experience 7 years

British Bulldogs? What kind of dog is that? I have never heard of that breed before. I don't think AKC, UKC, KCGB, or FCI recongizes British bulldogs. Are you talking about American Bulldogs, Bull terriers, Bulldogs, French Bulldog, Stafforshire terrier, or Miniature Bull Terrier ?

Do you show them?

Do you show your bulldogs in the CKC ring? How often do you bred your bitch? :)

Yes I used to be breeding Bulldogs. I was in Ring dog show 4 years ago.. and 4 times attend in 2 years.. My bitch "Rogue" almost almost almost champion.. Dang.. other bulldog won the champion.. :(

I do breed my prevouis 3 bitches once a year..
2x cycle-heat a year..
I prefer once a year to breed reason to heal somatch because of c-section.
I do not trust puppymill..

I heard about other who have been there for puppymills and made me angry. Due Neglect puppies and starve to death.

Last year, I made decision stop breeding because my home is very small house and isn't suitable for my dogs.. So put on hold wait until find a big house.. Right now, We are working on hunting houses and have nice spacouis big yard..
Will return my breeder again.. :)
