What is the hardest thing about keeping and making up an inventory list? I'm not talking about a shopping list that you throw away once you're done shopping. I'm thinking more on business side, you know.

The hardest thing about making an inventory list is that sometimes, I feel it is unnecessary. You see, I may list a bike on craigslist. CUstomer see a bike of mine that I've not listed yet. The customer decides to buy the bike that I've not listed yet. Good for me. I get it sold. However, it often lead me to kind of lax. You know, customer will buy a bike that I've not listed on craigslist so no need to make a listing.

Hardest thing about maintaining them is that I kind of treat them like a shopping list. I may make a listing of 8 bikes to put on craigslist. I would then throw the listing when done. I've done it again and again.

I want to start making an inventory list on computer and save it. Hopefully, I won't lose it.

If you save to your documents, it will always be there, wont change unless you delete certain items ( items that sold) and re-save the list with the new updates either sold or added to.

You can also make a list to list the bikes/itens sold so you can see what you sold/prices in the past, you can also use a spreadsheet to do this and keep track of monthly sales every year...ect.
A lot you can do with spreadsheet such as gain/loss percentage
( I believe its spreadsheet ) correct me if Im wrong, I don't have the program anymore so cant remember exactly what the program was, it will also do charts.

My uncle who is a computer junkie has tried to get me started on a spreadsheet. I hope I can do that.

I used to be Inventory Coordinator in previous job. You will get used to it (spreadsheet). I like to keep track on items we have in warehouse (we have tens thousand manufacturers to track).

What I'm suggesting that you should create a monthly sheet to track what you have sold or selling. And when 6 months has passed, you can just delete it.

I think it would be wise to print all your inventory too just encase your computer crash and can't use it. I have gone to stores that had their computer crash and they can't help me.

Speadsheet is complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, it is all good. You can keep track of profits, sales loss..ect...

Must be a way to use your cell phone and use an app then save it the phones memory chip. The chips then are your records. Your whole file system in a matchbox, file by start and stop date, written on the chip and on the inside of the box or something.

If you have a google account you can use google docs. They have a spreadsheet.
