Introduction to sign language and deaf culture class offered | Events
If you would like to learn the basics of American Sign Language, the Cape May County Library is offering a program, “Introduction to Sign Language and Deaf Culture.” The class will be held for 12 weeks at 7 p.m. on Mondays, Sept. 13 until Dec. 6 at the main branch of the library, 30 Mechanic St. in Cape May Court House.
The class is open to beginners with little or no sign language experience, as well as to individuals with some previous experience who would like to enhance their knowledge of sign language. Participants must be 14 or older to attend. The course will combine vocabulary learning with the basics of grammar and linguistics, and will include a brief introduction to deaf history and culture.
