Interesting question about China.

Opinion question.

In a recent issue of Futurist magazine there was an article all about China and breeding children. The point of the article was to inform it's reader that the Chinese are working on possibly custom designing their children in the future. The Chinese believe that life begins after the child has been born.

Now, the U.S. has a large population and a president that feels differently than the Chinese. Life begins inside the womb.

The article says that we might have to change our feelings on this if we are to compete with the Chinese in this area. If they custom design their kids to be math wizzes or soldiers or scientists or super-child carriers then they could truly be the most powerful nation on earth.

I think you've left out an important part of the equation.

Chinese couples are allowed only one child. THAT is the reason they are more interested in "custom" designing their children. They only get one "shot" at their legacy so they want to optimize it to fit their culture's ideal. For years they've been "customizing" their babies to the culturally preferred males by "discarding" the female babies by abortion, abandonment, or infanticide. If their one and only allowed baby is born with an obvious handicap, it has to be "discarded" also, so the parents can get another shot at perfection.

I see NO reason why Americans should copy Chinese cultural goals.

Believe me, I dont think so that china, they people are intelligance, supernaturals, etc... they are nothing value to me.. chineses people have LOWEST esteem in themselves on the number 1 list of top ever I knew.. they are copy-cats and sneaky..

My question, why most asians from Asia can't have their own blonde and blue asian babies????? For example in Japan, japanese are pale white skinned people, but the genetic blonds and blue eyes CAN'T / or NEVER WILL entitled into their own blood and flesh for existance forever. Where they get white blood in their blood veins?

yet, there are ZILLIONS of chinese girls left for adopation just because they are girls and the chinese men always think they are "high" and "mighty" that they should be above everything, even the boys too. It's sort of like what is done in the middle east as well. A woman in the middle east must not go alone without a man and always have to wear a "mask" over their face all the time...so, the chinese government always put pressure over their people. But of course, it's not just one child, they can have two, as well. But the chinese doctors arent really friendly when they find out the chinese woman would have twins, and the chinese doctors would write down the record on the women who gave birth and send them to the government and if they found out they have more than one or two children..oh man they are in serious shit. It's like they dont even have a right to live their life. :roll: I dont even like China and I will never go to China as well so whatever to China.

and also, there are actually more men in China than women...wanna know why? because if women found out it's a baby girl, most would commit sucide.

Actually, that is for several reasons...

1) Boys are prefered in their culture (it is a cultural preference...as it is the boy the takes care of the parents when they get old...they don't have retirements like we do yet...the girl/wife becomes a part of her husband's family by tradition)
2) Due to strict birth control (one child per couple), a boy is preferred (see reason #1) and therefore they either abort or abandon girls.

The inane one child per couple policy is the main culprit for the totally out of whack population ratio between males and females. The Chinese gov't has belatingly started to realized this and is trying to address this issue. Unfortunately for them, it may take decades before it all sorts itself out (if ever).

The PRC are crazy. They will be the greatest threat to the free world in the 21st century.
That said, their one child policy, even though it has exceptions, is necessary. They are way over populated beyond what their resources can handle. There is enourmous poverty in the interior of china because of this.
If most families in china owned a car like in america, then they would use more oil in six months than america and the rest of the world does in one year.

If they start geneitcally engineering children the world would turn on them, maybe.

Intelligence is not 100% genetic. If we were to clone Enstein today, the clone would have a slightly greater chance of being intellingent--only slightly. It's impossible to duplicate every single variable in the enviroment, so I think this is a dead end.
