Interested in learning

I am 25 and interested in learning ASL and about the deaf community- if possible even chatting with someone who is deaf or HOH that might be able to help me learn sign language ? Would this forum be a good way to find what I search? I found this app called tandem and it was all about learning language from natives of the language. It said it included ASL so I downloaded and it’s more so geared to people in like Korea and Russia and other places where they want to learn English; many say they know ASL but I don’t think was really accurate. It was just a very confusing app. What could I do/ find similar?
