Intel Duo Core 2 processor

I found the pix on my thread last year http://www.alldeaf.com/computers-el...spire-laptop-graphic-chipset-upgrade-nah.html

I looked closely at the heatsink on top of white socket partly sticking out and yes I did see the lift stick!!! Yeah!! my processor is upgradeable to Turon 64 X2!!!

Check this out this pix carefully, see that thing sticking out with lift stick on right side of heatsink...

A CPU upgrade is the worst investment you can make. The best is adding more RAM (up to 3GB in 32-bit Windows, or more than 4 GB for 64-bit OS). If you max out the RAM and it's still slow even on a reformatted drive, it's time to get a new computer. Don't bother to upgrade CPU. If you're low on storage, then upgrade the HD or get an external drive.

Even if you buy a cheap laoptop, it is faster than what you have simply because every year new motherboards come out with faster frontside bus, faster memory speed, and faster interfaces and adding MORE RAM would make it even go faster. That's assuming you still keep the XP. :)

CPU upgrade is usable for desktop only and it's easy for me to upgrade the CPU on desktop.
