Intel CEO: Stimulus didn't work

the old contractor is wise... now get him some hot reporter...

I would hope $864 billion would help more than.... "some"

Less than 800,000 jobs created.

We could have sent $10,000 checks to 70 million Americans and saved $164 billion.....think about that.

-or-

We could have bought a $100,000 house for the 7 million poorest Americans which would have in turn revived the constuction sector and manufacturing sector and created millions of jobs and saved $164 billion.

The stimulus failed. They built turtle bridges and robotic bees instead.

That's fine with me if you saying that stimulus package is failed and I'm going say that Obama can't have a big expect that stimulus package is success and working as he was dreaming. In my opinion, stimulus package is rather to be more misspending and not very effective than being failed.

With or without stimulus package, we will still have more problem and Obama isn't very business experienced person to me so good luck to him to whatever to dealing with economy. I hope that he doesn't put democrats in more risk to get lose from election for varies of reason, if he did then he would have more difficult election in 2012 and possibly battle with other democrats like Truman did in 1952.

further proof

Schwarzenegger requests disaster assistance after pipeline fire - CNN.com
TURN [The Utility Reform Network] also said the utility asked for another $5 million for the same project in 2009 -- the year it should have completed the work it hasn't even started -- saying it wouldn't be completed until 2013.

"The money was spent on what they call higher priority work," said TURN senior attorney Mike Florio.

so where did $5 million of taxpayer's money go to?
TURN officials think they know where some of the money went -- in 2009, the year PG&E didn't spend $5 million on fixing the pipeline, the company did spend $5 million on bonuses for six top executives.

"The company's priorities appear to be skewed," TURN executive director Mark Toney said.

greedy CEOs, yes?

The thread is about whether or not the stimulus worked.....

And as for more proof. There are currently 10 million families living below the poverty level. With that $864 billion we could have given every single family living in poverty a check for $80,000 and still had enough to build 64 Cowboy Stadiums.

or

we could build enough duplexes to house every family in poverty (at $140,000 per duplex) and had enough left over to build 656 new high schools.

That's a shitload of Job creation right there. Hard to outsource construction too.

But.....at least we have those pretty orange signs to tell us how much the government is doing for us. :) Oh and the turtles are safe too.

Right, TXgolfer. Instead of creating jobs, he created tons of pork. The very thing people tried to tell Congress NOT to do that.

"And as for more proof. There are currently 10 million families living below the poverty level. With that $864 billion we could have given every single family living in poverty a check for $80,000 and still had enough to build 64 Cowboy Stadiums."

BUT the problem is you're giving them free money with no guarantee that they will do something in return.

They are in poverty...of course they will do something with it. What, do you want paternalism now....

Also you left out option 2 of my post :)

Well, that $111 million in stimulus money sent to L.A. managed to produce a whopping 54 jobs! Now, that's $2 million dollars a job.

That's smart Obamanomics at work there for you folks!

Oooh, wait. Let's blame California first. That sort of politics and red-tape is endemic in California as well as in the WH.

in that file, it said: “While it doesn’t appear that any of the ARRA funds were misspent, the City needs to do a better job expediting the process and creating jobs."

Oh really? Where did 111 million go then?

It was spent on those 54 jobs....$2 million dollars a shot... as far as I'm concerned.

Oh my boy, how is worse.

It won't be good news for me because I hate GOP with socially conservative because majority of GOP politicians are conservative on combined of fiscal and social.

I'm really don't care about political sides on government spending/fiscal, long as they are well balanced and not misspending.

The number one problem on our hands is the spending problem that our govt has. If we don't get it under control and stop the over-spending we'll never make it as a country.

Well, I will NOT vote any politicians who is socially conservative, regardless if they are fiscal conservative or responsibility.

Now you know why I don't vote for anyone. Politics are not to be trusted at all.

Whatever. It's because of greedy CEOs like him that we're in this problem to begin with: shipping all the jobs offshores to increase profit margins. How quickly everyone forgets that the REAL reason we don't have any jobs anymore in this country is because of all the outsourcing. If you're an American company, BUILD YOUR FACTORY IN AMERICA.
I've been hearing griping about shipping jobs overseas since employment was less than 6%. Clearly, that's not the problem today. Besides, if companies can make stuff cheaper overseas, you and I can buy stuff cheaper.

Yeah, let's ship ALL our factories overseas. A good idea...NOT.
