Inspection report on Aberdeen School for the Deaf

Following a visit from HM Inspectors of Education a report has been published on Aberdeen School for the Deaf.

During the visit in March inspectors highlighted the good relationships between staff and pupils and the positive approaches to supporting parents.

Inspectors noted the broad range of stimulating learning experiences and the commitment of the learning support assistants

The pupils benefit from physical education with a specialist teacher and attendance at the after school gym club.

Staff provide a high standard of care and welfare for the children and encourage them to develop a positive image of their deafness through a special programme.

Areas identified for improvement included a review of partnership arrangements with Sunnybank Primary School and to build on the progress already made to strengthen self-evaluation.

Culture and Learning director John Tomlinson said: "I was particularly pleased to note the positive relationships between staff, pupils and parents and the commitment to physical education, which includes the after school gym club.

"I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all staff, pupils and parents for their commitment and enthusiasm.

"We will work with the school to address the areas identified for improvement."
