(CBS4) MIDDLEBORO A local veteran who lost parts of both of his arms in Iraq, is suing filmmaker Michael Moore. Sgt. Peter Damon says Moore recycled old news footage of Damon, and used it in a way that made him seem anti-war.

The snip-it appears in Moore’s film "Fahrenheit 9/11."

Sgt. Peter Damon, a father of two from Middleboro, strongly supports the war effort in Iraq and never agreed to appear in Moore’s movie. He is now suing for $85 million.

Damon was interviewed by NBC in 2003 while being treated at Walter Reed Army Hospital. The interview was about a new painkiller being used on injured soldiers. Damon says he did not express any views on the war itself in that interview.

Michael Moore used a clip from that interview in "Fahrenheit 9/11." It shows Damon lying on a gurney, saying he feels like he’s being "crushed in a vice."

The scene appears in a sequence that talks about how the government is abandoning veterans.

Injured Vet Sues Michael Moore For $85 Million

I think Hollywood is starting to get it now. When you play with politics youre playing with fire! Ever wonder why RFK ordered the CIA to kill Marilyn Monroe because she was having an affair with president kennedy? Plus Marilyn Monroe quoted (I will Bring Down the Goverment)

I really hate Michael Moore !!!!!!! :pissed:

Cheers to that veteran and I hope he wins that case. That money is rightfully His !!!!!

I knew something was fishy with Michael Moore !!!!! :squint:

God Bless Him !!!!!

It's something called a FILM!

sure I dont like Michale Moore either but most of the film relates to his expression on opinons of George Bush, Iraqi War, and 9/11th attacks...

why, there were even some REAL documents shown in the film where Bush has released 24 family members related to Bin Laden back to the middle east when he didnt even put them in prison or question them! fishy? perhas so.

He even "owns" part of the oil industry with part of Bin Laden's relatives.

The 9/11th attacks are so complicated and confusing it even tried to trick us thinking that it was the middle east when it was partly the US at fault too. He doesnt care about bin laden. He only cares about Saddam, the man who tries to kill his daddy, and steal more of the oil from Iraqi and just took him off the throne of Iraq and finds a better leader for Iraq and thats it. It has nothing to do with bin laden or any of the terrorist linked to 9/11th attacks anymore.

Sure Saddam is our enemy, but I dont think he had any plans to attack us like that.
so is Bin Laden. Saddam and Bin Laden are not allies..in fact they do hate eachother.

so, what does it have to do with the vet having to sue Michale Moore for $85 million since it's an awful lot of money, and could nearly put him out of movie business when he was just only making an documentary film and not all of them are true while most were just based on his opinons.

I love Michale Moore!!! We watch Freq. 9/11 in history class at school today.

I'm anti-war because Iraq and Iran aren't my country.

You know, ideally cases would be judged based on the legitimacy or illegitimacy of the claim rather than on whatever preconceived biases the jurists and/or judge have against the plaintiff or the defendant.

Time shall tell if this case is of a legitimate claim or not.

I doubt Damon would win this case because Michael Moore is just stated his opinion, about politic issues and war but he has rights to being anti-war and anti-Bush, unlike any countries that against laws for someone says like hate government. Damon can't dissing Moore's opinion but that stupid about against on him with films, this film are made in about 2 years ago. Damon need get over it and ignore the request about Moore's issues.

Oh my god, Damon made me laugh because he is just sue on him for stupid thing or opinion cannot be simple.

Actually, this should be easy to solve:

From Dictionary.com for the term 'Documentary'

1. Consisting of, concerning, or based on documents.
2. Presenting facts objectively without editorializing or inserting fictional matter, as in a book or film.

n. pl. doc·u·men·ta·ries
A work, such as a film or television program, presenting political, social, or historical subject matter in a factual and informative manner and often consisting of actual news films or interviews accompanied by narration.

If this soldier is telling the truth, then I ask those of you that are in favor of Michael Moore have no problem that his documentaries are not factual in nature? Kind of one sided, isn't it? Its such a horrible thing if somebody on the 'pro-war' side does it, but if the 'anti-war' crowd does it, then its OK because its a simple film? Does this mean that I can piece together news footage of the democrats who make a comment about supporting the US and turning it into a factual film about them being pro-war and pro-bush?

What am I missing?

NO............NOT IN THE LEAST!!!!!!

It happened!, everybody knows it!

Do your investigation, but oh yea, if your in the US, the media, and news and even the internet is propoganda!

A documentary film is supposed to be factual and accurate. It can express a point of view but the supporting material must be true.

Also, the veteran had not given his express permission to be included in the film. His reputation has been damaged by his inclusion in the movie.

I've only heard about the suit, so I don't know all the facts. However, if his claim is true, he has every right to pursue it in court.

This is entirely your opinion. Wait to hear all the facts before you make that kind of judgement.

I disagree. If he can prove his claim, he has every right to pursue this suit.

You obiviously wrong... It wasn't Moore's fault because Damon don't give an permission to join with films or whatever, Moore has rights to state their opinion about anti-war and anti-bush, or something but Damon is just sues on him, that wrong so Damon is stupid.

TrippLA, Take a look at the 1st and the 3rd and finally the 4th paragraph of the article at the top that Buckdodgers posted.

I did so that Damon fault, not blame on Moore... I will explain later...

Actually, it was Moore's fault. If you use footage of someone, you must have their permission, and when you use it to lie it's called fraud and defamation of character.

Kudos to Damon for what he has done for this country and I wish him complete success with holding Moore accountable for his lies and anti-patriotism.
