inherited hearing loss

For a late deafened person as yourself, you just have to learn to accept your deafness. It is not a bad thing. You just can not go back to being hearing again, unless if there is a miracle which I don't believe that. We all adapt to it and you have to learn to adapt to being a deaf person. If you want to learn to sign ASL, then go for it. It make the communication more easier to understand than trying to struggle what hearing people say. Don't forget to use paper and pen to communicate with hearing people. I hope you have a good journey into the Deaf Culture and being deaf. :thumb:
 
An addenda to some of the above comments" another choice": consideration, if suitable,fiscal/physical wise for a Cochlear Implant.
