Can I ask for 5 minutes of your time for a translation?

This guy on youtube is signing about some dating scam, but he is wearing a face mask. My question, can you still understand him? How important are facial expressions?

What is he saying?

Thank you.

i understand him fine, and facial expressions are one of the important factors in ASL linguistics. However the dude in the youtube film does not sign fluent ASL.. no where close.

I can understand him. He's clearly not a native signer, though. His fluency is "choppy" and some of the words/phrases are not exactly accurate (almost S.E.E II-like). And since he's not using ASL, there's no real need for facial expression.

Pretty much SEE, not ASL.

He is saying not to send any money to these 4 women (cant remember their names) because it is a scam. He wants deaf men to stop falling for the dating scam and if any of them sees someone asking for money, leave right away and block them permanmently. Do not let them on your FB , MSN, aim, cyberfrog and some other social networks.

That is basically the gist of what he said.

As for facial expressions, yes, they are important for one who is signing in ASL. With SEE, not sure.

yeah He didn't show any facial expression, so i manage to stare at his hands alone. :dizzy: I rely on seeing the whole ASl such as facial expression, heads, hands and body language.
