Hey everyone! Hopefully someone will actually read this... I am new to the community and hope to find some useful education and tips! I am 23, I've been signing for about 10 years but always socially. The main problem I'm having now is figuring out which sign language I actually use. I have a hard time understanding ASL users but can get the jist of what they are signing so I'm guessing I use SEE? I've never run into any one who signs SEE except for the girl I learned from in middle school! The community college in my city has interpreter training classes and I would LOVE to get my cert./degree (not sure which one it is) but they only teach ASL. I'm not sure how hard it would be for me to transition into ASL from the sign I use now... Hopefully someone understands what I'm saying LOL Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and please leave any advice you have for me!!
welcome, iam...
to AllDeaf forum. ASL is common for Deaf people much better than SEE. It is easier to use ASL than using the full sentences of the SEE. You are right about using ASL for socially in Deaf Events. But SEE is a no-no.
