illegal parking in handicapped zone

A lot of the fellow officers are like

The law said it is a :nono:

Those particular parking spaces are reserved for the ones that needs it. Not for the convenience of an officer, that is just too lazy. I can see it happening on an emergency situation.
In reality, they should be given a citation, just like any other fool that parks there for convenience.

I remember somebody getting fined $500 for parking in a handicapped parking space when I was still living in Minnesota. I am always :mad2: and :squint: at those who are able-bodied but park in the handicapped spots. Perhaps I should start snapping photos of their cars along with the license plates and report them from now on. I know there is a website that either gives away or sells stickers that says "this person is not disabled" that you can slap on the cars of persons who you have seen are able-bodied.

I don't support deaf people parking in disabled places. we are not disabled but culturally deaf.

Yea, I don't like how some deaf have handicapped tag and park at handicapped spots. We can walk and function just fine. We just cannot hear very well, that's all.

I think the police need to move their piggy asses and park in destinated spots so customers can park there for those who are wheelchair users need to come to the police or something. You NEVER know who will come to the police station.

One problem, How would you know if they are truly able-bodied? There are some that may seem to walk just fine but they aren't able to walk for very long? Those we won't see unless we follow them around for longer than 10 mins. There is more going on than that meets the eyes.

I found this at: Disabled Parking Bay and Blue Badge Abuse

No, I don't have those stickers, but sometimes I think some people who park in the handicapped/disabled parking spaces but have no disabilities and are truly able-bodied deserve to have one slapped on their vehicle.

I know all that. I am the same - I cannot walk for longer than a few steps myself due to my hip dysplasia and two injured discs in my lower back and it hurts pretty bad to walk and I am fighting to get into a neurologist who will hire an interpreter so that he can see me so I can get the medical care I need for my injured discs in my lower back (I suspect there may be nerve damage) and the hip doctor I currently have is a quack and doesn't want to fix my hip, I need a hip replacement badly - I have had two surgeries on my hip when I was younger and it is time for another. Some days my hip hurts so bad I can't even get out of the bed, and my feet goes numb a lot as well as the area in my back and also have shooting pains in my lower back as well as spasms. And I don't park in the handicapped parking spaces because I do not have a car of my own therefore I cannot get a handicapped parking placard, I would get one if I had a car of my own, so I do not use any of the handicapped parking spaces. My fiance takes me places in his truck, and his truck isn't even his...it's his grandfather's, (so no placard and no handicapped parking for me) and when we get to a store that provides wheelchairs or motor chairs, my fiance drops me off right at the front doors before going to park in a regular parking space so I would only have to walk a few steps to get to the store-provided wheelchairs or the motor carts, and then once I'm in the wheelchair/motorcart I wait for my fiance to come into the store. But I have seen someone park in the handicapped spaces, they get out, and they don't have any wheelchair, cane, crutches, or any other assistive/adaptive equipment, and then go into the store. I think "okay, maybe they can walk just that far, but will get into a store-provided wheelchair or motor cart like I do" so I don't say anything, but then I go into the same store myself to get whatever I need and I see them walking around just fine all over the store (such as walmart), not using the store-provided wheelchairs or motor carts (I have to use one of theirs myself as I am still fighting to get a chair of my own). I see them do things like lift something heavy from up high or off of the floor, walk around the store and doesn't use anything, no cane, no crutches, no wheelchair, no oxygen tank, no medical or assistive/adaptive equipment, or any of the other things, and they don't seem to have any difficulty walking like I do, they don't even lean on other things or anything, and most of them aren't even 40 years old so they can't use the "I'm a senior citizen" card. So don't tell me that I don't know more than what meets the eyes. I know.

Then in that case.. go to their car parked in those spots and "Here's your sign!" :rofl2:

Yeah, one of my ex-roommates is HOH but can walk perfectly fine and her doctor offered to do the paperwork to get her a handicapped parking placard just for being HOH. When she got the placard I was :squint: at her and gave her a lecture on how she was 100% able-bodied and that deafness or HOH does not qualify as a disability that hinders her ability to WALK in any way. :mad2: And no, she does not have one of those "invisible disabilities" that hinders her ability to walk in any way either, I know this because I have known her for a very long time, since 1999.

Geez, that's really dirty work involved. :mad2:

Be careful! Do NOT assume that person may be 100% able-bodied. There are few health issues that person may have and may be completely invisible. I used to have HC parking permit for long time. I look fine, but really I got damn asthma and it is NO fun! Especially in cold weather, and I hate people thinking that I am taking advantage of this.

Some people have heart condition, muscle condition which I know one has it and he looks normal but to him it is NOT.

I have known my ex-roommate since 1999 so I know she does not have ANY thing that hinders her from being able to walk normally or anything, she has even participated in a very long Pride parade in the Twin Cities with NO wheelchair or crutch or a cane, she used nothing, the parade was 2 1/2 hours long, I rode in the back of a truck that was part of a float due to my hip dysplasia and the injured discs in my lower back, but she walked the whole way on her own without anything, I believe the parade was like 30 blocks long (my estimate - it was quite long - we were representing the GLBT services at our college). I also even asked her parents, who I know pretty well too, if she had anything that would cause her to have issues with walking and other stuff, and they told me no, she's just HOH, that's all. They were surprised when they found out that she got the placard, and they don't approve of it, either, but she doesn't care. That's why I was :squint: at her for this. She has NO asthma, NO heart condition, NO muscle condition, or any such thing, she is completely healthy and is just HOH.

My thinking: If you can walk 30 blocks through downtown Minneapolis in a huge parade on your own without a wheelchair, cane, crutches, oxygen tanks, or any other assistive or medical equipment and without having to take breaks and without riding on the float at all, walking the entire 30 blocks, then you sure as hell can walk from a regular parking space at the far end of the parking lot to the store yourself, therefore you do not need to use the handicapped parking spaces.

For once, I agree with you.

I in fact.. have seen several NORMAL driver parking in Handicapped slot and pulled out the Handicapped card and hung it on review mirror THEN got out of car with his wife and walked normally to restaurant and I :squint: thru my review mirror and :mad2: that is not fair for handicapped!! I suspected that they wanted to park very front spot like a hog. Seriously, the driver was in restaurant standing waiting to be seated for 45 min and we were next to him :mad2:

I had a friend like like what LuciasDisturbed mentioned about her HOH friend. He had son with Muscular Dystrophy (MD) which require Handicapped card, BUT there were some days I was with him or followed him... His son wasn't with him and he just parked on Handicapped spot and hung the sign and walk gaily to store!! To me it's abusive!

Deaf and HOH is not valid reason for getting HC permit, it has to be physical, whether it is visible or not.

It has to be legs, heart, and lungs. Depending on which muscle that has illness involved.

Muscle issue from lack of excerise is NOT a valid reason, and it CAN lead to more complications with other health issue.

Remember, karma... what goes around comes around. If a person abused HC permit, they are much likely will face health issue later in their life. Trust me! Lacking excerise will surely cause shorten lifespan and more health complications which can cause person to suffer in the end.

I am not going to chase down these violators because I know eventually they will get caught up with karmic effect.

If you don't have the right paperwork for it don't park there azshole plain and simple

YUP! I am disabled, but I do not have a car of my own so I can't get a handicapped parking placard yet, so I don't park in those spots. And I was also told that if I do not have a car of my own, I cannot get a placard to use for when I am riding with my fiance or someone else - it has to be for my own car only. Oh well. I make do with what I can do, like having my fiance drop me off at the front doors before he goes to park in a regular parking space, etc. The law is the law, period.
