If a hearing person wanted to be your friend

This is suppose to be a discussion forum, not a chat room forum. But if you are living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and you would be able to find deaf people in some area like Wisconsin Hearing Society or some church that have deaf churchgoers. Look under the yellow pages in the phone book for organizations (Wisconsin Hearing Society, even in white page) or churches if you are interest in finding some new deaf friends (Look for a church that said interpreter church service). Don't expect them to be your friends right away because they might suspect you are up to something that may not be about friendship. Also there might be oral deafies who can lipread, but not one hundred percent perfect. Lipreading sucks because we can only lipread about 30% instead of 100% just like deafgal001. Just use pen and paper to write down what you want to say to them or start practicing improving your ASL.

On your username, can you tell me why your name is ms meaning you are a female and delusion meaning you are not interest in what bother you the most like hearing people or what? Can you specify what you mean by that? I hope you can find what you are looking for in friendship. :)

My name is my DJ name like an alias i suppose. Yea Ms. Because im a woman and Delusion was because i like to think "its all in your head" if that makes any sense.

I dont know how i feel about going to church, most churcies dont like gays. Im like brand new to asl just started taking asl 1 this semester so i can finger frickin slow but i can do it haha. Im goign to a deaf coffee chat friday, i think ill have better luck finding someone there who may want to take on the challenge of a slow hearing person =P and yes i will be bringing my notebook and pen!

I find this to be a very weird question.....just what are you getting at?

I think you missed her other thread. She started out introducing herself as someone who is just learning ASL (you know, the usual posts we get)... and when no one responded to her, she thought it was because deaf people didn't want to be friends with hearing people.

Exactly but its all good! I know this might be kind of a dumb question but, how come some people are born deaf?

Churches like Methodist are more open to gay (of course there are different types of Methodist churches because they split up so not sure which one). But deaf churches are friendly... depending what type of church it is.

So if i google churches in my area will it specify if its a deaf church?

maybe, if they have a website, but mostly you can find deaf churches from your local deaf resources that let you know about clubs, meetings, etc.

If you had a choice would you prefer your children to be deaf also? They say if your lacking in one sense that another is amplified, is that true for you?

yes if I have choice, I would have deaf kids.. but I don't have a choice of who I fall in love, and he happened to be hearing with no deaf history. I don't think other senses are amplified, I think we just use it more often.

Just to let you know, I love my kids rather they are hearing or deaf. If they are deaf, I'm happy, if they are hearing, I am just as happy.

How come you would want them to be deaf? Please dont take this wrong but if i had to choose to lose a sence i would pick sight before hearing. But i think it would be harder to live blind than deaf? Or is that just me?

Would you?

sure why not? I have tons.
