Idaho's deaf and blind school chief retires - Northwest - The Olympian - Olympia, Washington
The superintendent of Idaho's century-old school for deaf and blind children has retired.
The Times-News reports Mary Dunne ended a 37-year career with the school this summer.
Dunne, who has been superintendent since 2007, saw the school through financial turmoil earlier this year after state spending for education was cut.
The school in the rural farming town of Gooding was forced to cancel summer programs for blind and deaf students, among other measures, to trim $503,700 from its budget.
Dunne, who was recognized last week by the state Board of Education for her career with the deaf and blind school, says she looks forward to spending more time with family.
