Ice wave rise out of lake in Minnesota

I ve seen it before it did happen in my local area where my in laws ' lake home. But it is just a small lake. Still, it was scary!!!

Yes, I saw all the pics and videos of that too -- it's all over our local news. Only about 2 hours north of me. Just more freaky Mother Nature crap.

Why can't they send helicopter to drop a huge round ball made of steel to break the ice, or pour plenty bags of salt or get fire truck with hot water to melt them down??!!

Yeah houses are falling into sinkholes in California , I saw on the news that the coastlines are changing too. The earth is changing all the time but it never been so noticeable before.

Last two suggestions is bad for ecosystem.

Other problem is timing and money.

Spring thaw always brings ice damage along rivers and lakes. I always like taking trips then and looking at how the ice dams up. Some towns have to dynamite the ice dams to keep rivers from flooding

I don't mind get job as blow up specialist. I would love that job! Fun to see anything that blows up in matter of seconds. Of course, safety always first.

Yeah, I'm sure it's nothing new to the locals up in the Great Lakes region.

Snow is nothing, ICE is lethal sometimes. Don't forget that spot called "black ice". Don't you notice we got less snow this year than anytime in the past, eh?

yeah but the more snow this year than last year though. you are right that ice is lethal big time, not soemtimes. black ice is the worse toO. I fell twice from black ice. I hated that!!!!

BUT like DHB said, timing and money.

There is great lakes treaty signed few years ago (I think somewhere 5 years ago) by states, and Canada providences that touches one of these great lakes, no one can contaminate any part of great lakes, and can not be sold or give out water thats outside of either providence or states. These flame thrower will leave some chemicals into the great lakes which is a NO NO!
