I would like to express my joy..

Its not that i want to understand the "culture" better, and i'd never want her to be anything she didnt want to be, or couldnt be. She can talk, and i enjoy listening to her talk, but since so many of her friends and most of her family are deaf i'm pretty left out when they are around and talking, so while i doubt i'll ever be an asl master, atleast i will be able to pick up 30-50% of the conversation

  You know I try my best to keep you in the conversation, and I know that it goes both ways, I feel left out sometimes when we're at your parents' place and stuff like that. But its all about compromise, you learn ASL, i'll learn to be hearing again ;) lmao..

Something tells me its more then you forgetting how to hear. However, if you chose to get the implant, i support it, same if you chose never to get it.

When pinkster said "I’ll learn to be hearing again", I think she meant it in a figurative sense rather than a literal one—I don’t think she was referring to implantation. Or am I wrong?

It's really neat having that happen, it shows how much he loves you. ;) One of my ex boyfriend did that -- he learnt ASL and was quite good in it...he utilised it into his work which was helpful. :)
My hearing husband is alright with his AUSLAN signs and fingerspelling, but he prefers ASL fingerspelling as he can use it whilst driving!

:) I used to be hearing, so thats where it comes from. He and I have talked about a CI and stuff, so i KIND OF did mean it in a literal sense. It's a long story that I wont bore people with :)

I’m sure that when the right time comes, we’ll hear the whole long story. ;) And when that time comes, you know that everybody here will rally behind you 100%. Until then, it sounds like everything is finally going your way, and we all hope it stays that way. :)
