What the best option is for me to use a VP while on my brief home visit?

You see, the last time I went home, my ntouch PC and ntouch mobile both got badly messed up, and I had to reset both my phone and laptop, and I'd like to avoid a repeat of that happening.

Now, as I know, my private hotspot from Clear will not work down there, but my phone's mobile hotspot does, so here's my question: to avoid a repeat of last time, what would I be better off using? My laptop or my tablet?

Why? Because I have Z5, P3, and Convo on it, and these worked well on the Amtrak, but as for being in Southern IL? Not yet proven.

I do not use any of the services you are talking about. But . . . I live in Southern Illinois (about 60-80 miles east of St. Louis depending on where you are measuring from in St. Louis). I will comment on cell service.

Most people around here and at least somewhat south have found Verizon to have the most coverage.

AT&T has been doing a good deal of work and I am just starting to try them out for use with Hamilton CapTel: Smartphone: Android. I have setup service with the MVNO PureTalk USA.

T-Mobile has some fast service within several towns but are "islands" of fast service. For example by the time you have left Centralia on 161 if you turn south on the blacktop west of Hoffman toward Hoyleton you will hit some "no service" if on pre-paid T-Mobile. I don't know if post-paid would roam there are not.

well -- I think you know the answer to this one. but let's examine the features of each.

As you know, ntouch is one number to one device kind of thing. Its harder to log in to any device with same number/account.

with z5 - you log in with an primary account and you can see online your account info and contact list but can have different numbers for each device, but you can setup a better control if you want one number system and do you want to ring all devices or just selected numbers you choose?.

With purple - you can log in ANYWHERE on ANY purple software/hardware and its one number and one account and they can call you no matter what device you are using. If you have p3 on cellphone but dont like to addd contacts there? thats fine - just log on pc or tablet and add from there. it will get "pushed" to your cell contacts as its the SAME account.

Convo? dunno. Havent used it. Can anyone chime in here?

I'm actually headed to Flora, IL. The service for ntouch mobile where I'm headed to sucks, but the rest of town is all right. I get off the Amtrak at Effingham, IL.
