I don't want this to come off as one of those 'assignment' type of questions groupings. Because it's not about one. I think about these things a lot because of what I'm pursuing as my future. It is these questions and my own opinion on these that got me going down the road to pursuing my education as an educator - possibly special education - but also pursuing ASL interpreting for a broader understanding and the desire to use them both in tandem. I worry sometimes that I'm completely off the mark on my thinking. I'd appreciate any feedback!
What are your thoughts on a hearing teacher educating deaf students? Would it matter what the course work was?
Do you think it is a good idea to teach ASL to a young child – for both a hearing and deaf child?
With the requirement to learn a language in hearing schools, do you think there would be a benefit to include ASL as a standard alongside languages like French and Spanish?
