I was beginning to feel pretty isolated because everyone I know is hearing accept for 2 people. Yesterday I received an email from someone who is very active in the Deaf Community here.
She works for the Communication Service for the Deaf as Supported Community Living Services and wanted to invite me to a few events and let me know what is going on. You have no idea how big of a relief it was to read her email and how inviting she was. I had no idea there was a Deaf church here, they have a Deaf club that meets once a month and every week they have a Deaf dinner at a new place. I knew about the Starbucks meet ups but last time I went there, there was no one that was around my age, everyone was a lot older than me and I felt weird.
I think that is what I was having trouble with. I was feeling since it is so hard for me to communicate with everyone I used to know or know now, what was I going to do when I lost all of my hearing. I never see my 1 deaf friend and I just started getting pretty down about it. I feel like a huge ton of bricks just lifted. She also said I can take the ASL classes for free (that I thought I had to pay for) because I need them.
What a great day! I can't wait for tomorrow now, the dinner and then everything this weekend!
