Due to finanical issues I realized that I can't afford to keep Puff my bearded dragon. I'm feeling pretty torn up but I gave her to a friend who's brother's wife wanted her. They already had a few dragons. So I felt confident that she would be in good hands.

But my guy was sad because I forgot we had agreed to give her away tomorrow not today so we can both say goodbye (hes working today), so now I feel a little worse.

I feel like a bad mommy, but at the same time I know it was for the best for her. She will be happier and they told us we can visit her anytime. I feel weary of that though because some people say that but they don't really mean it.

I could use a hug.

Here's really hoping the new owners will take very good care of ur dragon....I went thru a similar experience several years back, with 2 of my Cocktiels, "Petey & Lullabye".....I was moving out of State at the time....but now I have 2 male Cocktiels..."Joe & Buster"....they are a mess! But lovable birds, would never part with any of my animals again.

I still feel like a bad mommy....

Nah, sometimes we have to make tough decisions. I used to have a pet pig and I had to give her away, even though I really didn't want to. There were alot of people who wanted her but I chose a vegetarian family (lol) and a couple months later, they surprised me with this pic and story:

Hi Christine,

I thought you would like to see a picture of her. My daughter cleaned her crate and forgot to put it back where it belongs. When piggy wanted to go to sleep, all she could find was our toy poodle's crate... She squeezed in and fell asleep.

Cheers

My point is... maybe it isn't the last you will hear of your bearded dragon :)

It is sad, but sometimes bad things happen. I think you can feel you were a good mom to give her to someone who could afford her.

Aw thanks guys :) it was just too much, she was eating better than we were! our two cats didn't cost as much to handle, but I still loved her. My stepdad suggested that I give her less bugs, more veggies and I tried but I noticed her change in behavior. She NEEDED protein.

This family has 3 dragons already and they all look happy. The feed them roaches for treats, crickets, worms etc.... the bug thing was getting too much for me lol
