Hutchinson man teaching deaf youths in Jordan - WDAF
A 24-year-old Hutchinson man who once planned to go into biomedical research says he's finding satisfaction in a far different field, far from home.
Brent Stutzman is working in the Middle East, helping deaf and blind students at a school outside Amman, Jordan.
Stutzman told The Hutchinson News he spent his first 11 months at Jordan's Holy Land Institute for the Deaf through the Mennonite Central Committee. He has since extended his time in Jordan for two more years as an MCC service worker and will continue to work with the deaf and blind.
MCC partners with Global Family Program, as educational sponsors with the deaf-blind unit at the Holy Land Institute.
Stutzman says he thought he would go into biomedical research. But all that has changed since his experience in Jordan.
