Hurricane Isaac

Wirelessly posted

if it gets to bad classes may b canceled may want to keep check

We've needed some rain, but not all at once! LOL Bad storms are expected here, just found out it's not expected to approach Tampa metro, but its rain bands are.

We got some rain late evening and last night...today is overcast....dunno how bad KristinaB is...(West Palm Beach)....seems her yard was flooded yesterday.

I better fill up the gas on my car before the gas prices go skyrocketing HIGH.

You will be not affected because you live in California and the gas that where you bought isn't from oil refineries in Texas and Louisiana.

Back in 2005, the gas price were much higher in southeastern states than in California.

My sister tells me that the emergency evaluation order for Mobile had been toned down to a suggested evaluation for those on Dauphin Island.

Chevron refinery blasted a month ago that caused California's gas price go up 20 cents. Now California rely refineries in Texas and Louisiana. That is it, I ride bicycle to work.

It may hit Louisiana on the anniversary of Katrina?? how weird is that? Oh wait, and isn't the 7 year anniversary.....7 years of bad luck and all that....even weirder....and I'm very glad I filled up today!! I didn't even think about that authentic!! Good point, it won't be as bad as katrina, but I lived in NH at the time, and worked at Exxonmobil, prices skyrocketed.....everydamnwhere

Yup, I heard about Mobile and Baldwin counties face evacuation.

I remember about Alabama had terrible hurricane - Ivan that hit Mobile so hard.

Chevron Oil Refinery Blast Rocks Richmond - SFGate

Oh wow, that's not good.

I thought that price increase is limited to Chevron gas stations but seems that I'm wrong because it is about demand and supply.

Chevron lied to Californians, they said Chevron Refinery won't affect to US Gas prices, it is for foreign trade. One day it blew up, and California's gas prices go up and of course Californians pointing at Chevron. Chevron's CEO is in deep trouble right now. Let's see how it goes in court.

Gas prices are already up to $4.29 for regular here.

Wow, I'm surprised that oil companies are evil, of course, when one gas brand went blown up so all other gas brands go up, due to limited supply and more demand.

I used to fill at Chevron so often but not much anymore, I just fill at Shell so often now.

I heard about the embarrassing gaffe that The Weather Channel did - referring "The land mass between New Orleans to Mobile." Everybody knows it's Mississippi. You'd think the people at The Weather Channel would know it since they have to be on the know with geography. lol (shaking my head)

Prayers for those who are in Isaac's path.

*shrug*

when I saw the radar map, I was like - eh that's nothing. I knew it wasn't going to be like Hurricane Katrina. The only worry is that this hurricane will be slow-moving CAT-1 storm.

Better a fast-moving CAT-2 than slow-moving CAT-1 cuz if storm moves slow, it means prolonged raining which means heavy flooding.

I love (not) all the adjectives they're using for TD Isaac even if it does become a CAT 1 or CAT 2. The adjectives I keep hearing sound like at least a CAT 3. And it "slammed" into FL? How about brushed by. Yeah, a lot of people suffered flooding and wind damage, but I would think "slammed" means a direct hit...the eye making landfall.
