UGH! Such a fear. I'm so sorry!
We thought we'd lost one, and we contacted the CI company first, bc it was still under 3 year warranty. They would have replaced the whole thing 1X free of charge within that 3 year period. If it was after that time, they would replace it only if we had purchased their extended warranty. If we had it covered it under our homeowners insurance (the same way you'd have your wedding rings, any valuable family jewelry, or high tech equipment covered), which many people do, insurance would be the first contact (although you'd likely have a deductible). Fortunately, it came home (teacher found it on the playground at school). I know several families who've had to replace lost processors.
