I looked around on this forum and didn't see any posts about this yet. So I thought I'd share what I've discovered.
Youtube has been offering closec captioning ability on their videos for a while now. I also just learned that there is a way to search for closed captioned youtube videos.
Here's how to search youtube for CC videos
Type in what you want to search for in the youtube search box then click the "search" button.
The search results page will show up.
Now, toward the top of the page you'll see Search choices (Video, Channels, Playlists, Sort by, uploaded, type)
Click the work "Type" and a drop down menu will appear.
In the drop down click "Closed Captions"
It'll eliminate all videos on the serach results page that do no have closed captioning. So basically it'll now only show the videos you searched for that have CC.
Translating youtube CC
Now not all the CC videos will be in your language. Youtube now has a CC translator. It's still in beta but I've used it and it's working pretty well.
Here's how to use it.
When I video is playing that does not have CC in your language. Drag your mouse cursor over the CC image on the bottom right of the video (This is where you turn the CC on and off). A pop-up will show.
Now drag your cursor over the arrow nest to the CC image. Another pop-up will appear.
You'll see an option in the pop-up that says "Translate". Click it.
Choose the language you want the CC to be translated to. Then click "Translate".
The CC will now be translated to your language.
I hope you find this useful. There still aren't near enough CC videos in there but there are a lot more then I thought there where thanks to these new features.
