How often do you see the Audiologist for hearing tests??

For a while I was going every six months, once in January and again in late June.

Now that I havent seen my audie in a little more than a year, I was wondering just how often should you see your audie??
 
I guess it depends on the variability of one's hearing. In other words, is one's hearing stable? If so, one probably can go every couple of years maybe as long as five years or so. If not, then more frequently would be better to keep tabs on it.

I personally didn't bother with it much as long as my hearing was stable. I probably had two or three from my early twenties until just before my CI (my late forties). Now (for me), it is a moot point and a worthless exercise...;)
 
i go to the audi every 6-8 months since im younger they said and they aren't 100% sure wat caused my hearing loss...
 
When I still wore HAs I went to the audi every 6 months. However, when my hearing showed a steady decline (i.e. when my loss reached the severe-profound level), my audi wanted me to see her every 3 months so she could keep tabs on how quickly my hearing loss was progressing.
 
When I wore HAs I hardly ever went to the audiologist. Only for new ear molds and that was it. Now with CIs I have a much closer relationship with the audie and I do like it. I know that if a problem crops up that I can go right over to her and get it sorted. Whereas when I suddenly lost my hearing I was in a bind as I was out of the loop with my previous audiologist.

Having a good relationship with your audi is priceless -- and having an audi that *listens* to your needs, concerns, etc. is even more important.

I've been fortunate to work with 3 audis in the 20+ years I've worn HAs and two of them did everything possible to help me hear the best I could.

The audi whom I didn't have a close relationship with never listened to any of my concerns.

For example, when I complained that I couldn't understand speech with my new digital HAs, he blamed that on the severity of my hearing loss and on the weakness of digital HAs vs. analogs for people with severe-profound loss. Whenever I asked him to program my aids differently, he'd always leave the room, come back and claim the aids were reprogrammed -- even though they didn't sound any different than they did a few minutes earlier. (Grrr!) He also didn't understand the mobility challenges faced by someone who is deafblind and why programming HAs so you can hear traffic is vitally important. Needless to say, I fired that audi within 3 months and never looked back.

I guess what I'm trying to say in a long-winded way :) is if you're unhappy with your audi, switch to another. (Having said that, I know this isn't easy for those of you who live in rural areas)
 
I've been to Audie once a year for hearing test and replacement of moulds etc.

I'll go this Wednesday. It's at 8.30am.. Yuck!
 
I got to audiologist when I need to. I go there every few years, depending if ear-molds need replacing, hearing aids need tune-up, etc. Currently, I don't have hearing aids, cause they're broken and my health insurance don't cover hearing aid stuff. I would have to pay them out of my pocket, oh well.
 
Depends on the age of the patient.

The younger ones tend to come anywhere between 2-4 times per year. Around 8 yrs old they start coming twice a year. Over the age of 18, I recommend once a year or sooner if they believe anything with their hearing has changed.
