I wonder about you people sometimes.. How many books and magazines do you read per month? What kind of magazines do you read? Or journals?

I must admit that I often find magazines boring to read. Like.. People? Downright boring for me to read. Sport Illustrated? *chuckle* I would say maybe once in 10 years or longer (I prefer to be a player than sitting and watch or read the sports) However I do read National Geographic.

I read average 5 - 7 different books per month. I usually read the thought-provoking books... Examples: The Years of Rice and Salt, The Catcher in the Rye, Into the Buzzsaw: The Myth of a Free Press, The Truth About Children's Health: The Comprehensive Guide to Understanding, Preventing, and Reversing Disease, The Untold Story of Milk, All books by Graham Hancock, All books by John Gray, Different kind of political books, etc etc.. To be honest.. I haven't read the novels for a while... Michael Crichton's Prey is my latest novel to read. J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be my next novel to read whenever it comes out.

About journals, I mostly read medical and health-related journals (too many to list)... maybe 15 - 20 per month? I didn't read all of these journals, depends on what kind of articles that catch my eyes.

For some reason, I sometimes got the feeling that most people often understated the importance of reading and knowledge. That is kinda sad to see that.

btw (in poll, journals included in 'magazines' group)

Im so glad that someone brought this up. Reading is my greatest passion.

I read an average of 2 to 3 books a week. Most are on spirituality, biographies, social issues and classics. Currently Im reading a book on karma and a biography of Sylvia Plath. I just finished a book on life of Jane Digby. I have about 20 books on my nightstand waiting to be read :)

I used to subscribe to 7 monthly magazines but had to cut down because I have no time to read these. Now I just read Smithsonian.

While as a kid, I used to drag home at least 20 books every two weeks from the library. But with my demanding schedule, I don't have as much time as I would like to focus on reading.

I make sure that my girls read at least 1 hour every evening so as as result of that, they devour books as much as I do now.

1-5 books & magazines... sometimes zero! lol I know... when i was a kid, i used to loveeeeeeeeeeee to read but now I grew out of it and read a little *shrugs* I already bought 2 books at this moment danielle steel "Safe Harbour" and 90 mintues to heaven by don piper....

Lucky you. I wish I read that lot when I was a young but unfortunately I don't... I passionately hate reading the books when I was a young until HS graduation... I don't know why. But once I start to like to read the books, my boxes and bookcases are full before I can realize that I run out of spaces to put the books away.

OldNavyGirl, keep it up!

I wonder.. not many people around here like to read? Not to offend but based on lack of responses in this topic. I know one thing that I couldn't sleep if I didn't read the book. Bad habit...

I love to read. I read 3 to 4 novels a week, few magazines like Smithsonian, National Geographic, Parents, and many more. I like broad varities of subjects. When I was a kid, hated to read, but liked picture books...I must have outgrew my stage from picture book to word book. My DH calls my novel "prono novels" :)
