How do you say "You lie!" in Mandarin?

He got banned for posting a LOLcat picture containing a cat in a suicide-bomb vest.
I got warned for posting a picture of Palin and Hitler together, with a fake Photoshop mustache I made myself. It was considered racist. I shrugged.

Jiro is well known as an Asian, so I figure he can poke fun of his own race. I make fun of my Irish bloodlines. Saw this on a shirt, and laughed out loud:

A drawing of 3 men, laying in various drunken poses, surrounded by empty liquor bottles. Under it, the words "Irish Yoga"

Wait a min. It's okay for one race to make fun of his/her own race but not other people can? Like, hey, it's okay for me to make fun of Deaf people right? Is that what you're saying. I'm one of you guys, right? Let me do this mime thing again and see if I can get it right.

let me repeat once more what saywhatkid said:

"if i posted this, i would expect a mail from the staff."

and he knows that's true. It's called a double standard. Hypocrisy. Whatever. When it comes to perceived racism. Please, go ahead and laugh, then we will all know for sure.

you

same cat, same picture, was posted in another thread in ad. That person didn't get banned. See the double standard? The hypocrisy?

don't have

It depends on the context of the post. If it was meant to be inflammatory, then the poster would be banned. I don't know about the other poster, but you got caught and you got your wrists slapped with a ruler. Simple.

If the other poster did intend to be a troll, consider this: thousands of people get away with drunk driving; thousand others get caught for DUI. You just got caught. Just because one person got away with it doesn't means other people can repeat it and expect the same result.

You are hardly Deaf, with all the audist shit you post. Can't believe you'd even try and pull that.

And that's not what I'm saying, at all. But, if given the right context, sure it's okay for a Deaf person to poke fun of Deafness. Ever seen a Peter Cook skit? It's all about context.

You're using the same logic about how it's ok if one race (since there are slight variations but nonetheless the do belong to the same race) can make fun of it's own but another race cannot? I'm in that "race" with that variation it's ok that I make these "racist" joke about myself doing the mime thing?

That's a good question. But how would one know? If I think it's funny and people know I'm not of the same color they'd scream racism but my buddy next to me is the one who showed me that picture who happens to be of the same color? And so, I post that picture thinking it's a hoot. But i get the blame?

It is quite obvious to me that you do not understand the term context, and therefore, this is not even worth discussing with you. Clearly, you do not get it, as you don't get A LOT of things.

And the fact that you would even draw up the analogy between Deafness and race proves how clueless you are about that issue as well.

Remember, there is no exactly a black and white separation here. Things do fall into the grey area. Like I said, I saw what saywhatkid wrote and he certainly hit the nail on the head. He thought it was funny. Suppose he put that picture out thinking it was really funny as exactly as what Jiro would see it funny, too. But the thing is, saywhatkid isn't of that race. So, there's a double standard at work here and we saw that rare glipse of honesty right there (not to mention a certain political correctness fear in it) had he done it he would've expected a PM from management.

CJB, you even know what we're talking about?

It's a photoshopped version of an anti-Japanese WW2 poster with a crashed Zero plane on fire in the background, and there's a Japanese with avatar goggle on his head, and is wearing a leather bomber jacket. The Japanese has a very thin complexion with a villain nose that is small and skinny, and slanted eyes. He looks angry and looks like he is going to throw a bomb. The caption is "YOU WANT MIRRION DORRAR! TOO BAD! HERE BOMB! FUCK U"

Jiro posted it.

:ty: for the description, souggy.

There's also something to be said for how much "homework" has been done. Someone who is hearing but knows tons about Deaf culture and knows ASL fluently has more license to make fun of Deaf culture in an affectionate way than a hearing person with a history of audism and who sees ASL as a primitive system of gestures.

Likewise someone who is more aware and educated on racial issues and does not use racist jokes to perpetuate racism but rather to make fun of the system has more license to make jokes about other races than someone who is motivated by their own personal racist attitudes. The difference lies in the intent.

Look, I understand what you're saying, and I'm saying that you're wrong. It's funny that you would mention the "gray matter" here, as that is precisely the type of analogy I am trying to get at. In fact, it is you who is sticking along the lines of black or white. In this case, you think something is either racist or it isn't, regardless of who posts it and the context it is posted in. What I am saying is that it all depends on context. Yes, IT REALLY DOES MATTER what the race of someone is when they make a joke that deals with race. Humor is a very complex aspect of communication that relies on many historical, social, and ideological contexts. And, certain types of humor must be executed by someone who is credible, who has the ethos to make such a joke. A German cannot make Jew Jokes. A White person cannot make black jokes, etc. etc. I am sorry to tell you this, but because Jiro is Asian, he has the credibility to make such a joke, and in this case, it is NOT racist. That does not mean that Jiro can post pictures that make fun of Asians whenever he wants and it will never be racist. Not at all. But in this context, it was not.

It's not a double standard. A double standard would be if another Asian person on the board made the same post and got banned for it.

With the picture I posted, I was making light of all the drunken Irishman jokes I see. I am 50% Irish, the rest of me is mixed bag/mutt. Not all Irishmen drink, including me.

At this point, I think everyone can make fun of the Irish :D
