Which would you pick?

A. 1990 Volvo 740 Turbo or 1990 Saab 9000 Turbo?

B. 1990 Volvo 740 Turbo or 1990 Saab 9000?

C. 1990 Volvo 740 or 1990 Saab 9000 Turbo

D. 1990 Volvo 740 or 1990 Saab 9000?

How do you make your pick? Is it difficult?

Loaded question. Condition, mileage, etc?

The Volvos are rear-drive, repairs will be cheaper than Saab's front drive layout. Parts probably will be easier to get with the Volvos.

Also, my Dad had a Saab 900 Turbo, '83, great car, but very maintenance-intensive, and a pain in the ass to work on. Had to pull the engine completely out in order to replace the clutch. Turbo was oil-cooled and prone to failure.

Bottom line is, any old used Euro car will bite you in the wallet unless you do the repairs yourself.

p.s. Why are you asking the general population here instead of down in the basement under "autos"?

Because I was curious how much "turbo" would skewer someone's pick on preference of car.

Both makes of car are pretty much bombproof. SAAB 9000's are getting fairly rare now, but are fairly cool cars, my father had a succession of them ending up with a 2.3 turbo that had been modified somewhat. Beware torque steer.....
The last SAABS (95's) were pretty much rebodied Opel/Vauxhall Vectras.
Volvo's last forever. There'll only be two things left after the Zombie Apocalypse - cockroaches and Volvos. I've owned 2 740's in the past and would always have another one. A fine old bus to roam around in - pretty much like a motorised sofa, handling not too good, unless you go for the turbo in which case they're mental in a straight line but useless at corners.
My call would be the Volvo 740 Turbo - or just the plain 740 if you don't want the worry of the Turbo going bang :)

Alternatively...... you can buy my Australian 1999 Ford Falcon - I'll even ship it over for you :) Rear-wheel-drive, 203hp, surprisingly quick, and a 4-litre engine..........
ok maybe not :)

First of all check the mileage. The less the better.
was the car at any times immersed in water? not good.

second, who owned the car -a road rage crazie, or a good driver?
which car is in generally better condition?
and always, ALWAYS take the car to the mechanic before buying it.

Fuzzy
