I did not realize the U.S. declared war on North Korea ..... recently :hmm:

Well... technically, the Korean War never ended. They only signed a cease-fire armistice because the threats of a nuclear war between the U.S. and U.S.S.R. was too great during the stalemate. No one surrendered, and no one signed a peace treaty for the end of the war. The full text of the armistice can be found here: FindLaw: Korean War Armistice Agreement: July 27, 1953.

So South Korea and her 1953 U.N. allies are still at war with North Korea. Furthermore, the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission, or UNCMAC, was established to overlook to see that the truce agreements are being upheld. The UNCMAC meets regularly in P'anmunjom; you can find transcripts of their meetings from 1953 up to today online.

Yep. A ploy to make the American public feel better that the government is doing something they can't garauntee.

There you go. A game of semantics to appease the public. Sad that so many fall for it.
