SunLive - Highlighting deaf awareness - The Bays' News First
Tauranga MP Simon Bridges is more knowledgeable about hearing disabilities in the community following Be Heard Day on Saturday September 18.
The National Foundation of the Deaf organised for Simon to meet with members of the deaf community in Tauranga in a series of meetings in his office on Devonport Road during Be Heard Day.
“While deafness has a really big impact on people, I was very impressed by the strategies our deaf community adopt in order to cope and adapt to their situation.”
Simon believes greater awareness is needed for people with hearing loss.
“I certainly got some strong messages on Be Heard Day and I hope more people in our community will become more knowledgeable about the issues with being deaf as I have.”
