Hi...
I'm Sam Conviser and I'm writing from Asheville, NC. I am hearing but have always had an interest to learn ASL. I just finished 2 semisters of ASL at
Community College of Southern Nevada prior to moving to NC.
I'm not very good yet, but next to the average hearing person, I think I do fairly well. (I still get "slow" and "naked" confused which can make for an interesting conversation at times.) LOL
I know some of you may think I'm just another hearing person who knows a couple of signs...but I am really trying to get to the point in my training where I can understand a deaf person's point of view in a real conversation, keep up with some of you "speed talkers". (I'm usually 3-4 words behind), and have a better understanding of deaf culture.
Anyway...My neighbor in NV is deaf and she taught me a lot about signing and I'm now looking for others in NC to get with...or classes to take.
Sam
