Hey, new here!

Thanks so much!!! :aw: and wow, okay. And after surgery( if needed) would I be back to normal? No tinnitus?

Yes only if everything else in your ears are normal. Tinnitus is a symptom of Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. I get it sometimes. It goes away when I use Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray. Please go see ENT specialist. Don't wait too long. I hope you only need a medication.

Um, I don't think so. I live in a small town with a small Deaf community. I tried to talk to one of the girls I went to high school with, but pretty sure she thinks I'm a dumb hearie. But I've heard that Gallaudet offers online ASL classes, so I'm going to try that. The doctor said that he didn't have the equipment there to figure out exactly what was wrong and that I needed to go to a specialist. We haven't been able to get an appointment with an ent or audiologist yet. He said that my eustatian(spelled wrong) tubes were puckered and that it was a problem... This was a minor emergency clinic, so equipment is limited. He just had that light thingy. I've been going there for years and he said that with the amount of ear infections and concussions I've had he doesn't think this is something that's gonna clear up. I went in because I had a massive headache and couldn't hear anything for like 30 minutes. It hurt really badly and deep into my ears... Both of them. And it hasn't been much better since. That was about a month ago. My hearing is muffled and my ears feel like I need to pop them but can't. I am trying to schedule an appointment with an ear nose and throat dr. but I've been trying to just finish high school. Now I'm out, I have more time. So, yeah. I will keep y'all posted. Y'all will know something as soon as I do. I guess it could be nothing, but I really doubt that. Like I said, I'm not absolutely terrified anymore; I'll adjust. It's not the worst thing that could happen.

It sound like you have a real bad infection , I hope you can get to a doctor real fast. You should tell the doctor office you think you have an infection and need to be seen right away. Good luck . I live in a small city
and it's hard to find doctors .

Okay, thanks! Will call tomorrow and try to get in

Welcome. I'm 36yo and still have a tube in my right ear but not left. I also have major tinnitus in my ears which makes it difficult for me to hear as well. I have over 50% loss in both ears but my left has nerve damage so it's worse than my right ear. I know my hearing is getting worse by the year which is also why I am learning asl. I love the language. So awesome to speak without technically speaking voice wise. In process of trying to get hearing aides but been turned down for times so far bc I have no way of paying for them. Again welcome to the club lol.

 Luckybearsher and Songbird
Songbird I like your nickname. A nickname I had in college was "Raven"; also when my hub had CB it was a handle I used.
I also had speech delays and was in Special Ed. as a child for that and language problems; I used to make humming noises and gestured as a young child, as opposed to talking.
Hope you can get in to see someone!

Welcome to AD!

Just curious about your health insurance. Does your doctor refer you to another dept like ENT or whatever so that dept would call you to schedule an appt or do you have to do it on your own?

Yeah, they thought I was autistic. It resolved itself before school though, so I never had to do speech in school. But yeah, I would make up some nonsense babbling and gestures and sing. Mostly sing. So my mom called me her songbird.

I had to schedule it myself. This was a minor emergency clinic... I don't have a regular doctor, and I haven't had a hearing test since middle school, maybe even before that. I've done online ones, but no official tests.

Update: hearing is fine. Dr wants me to try low salt diet for tinnitus. Said what I thought was hearing loss was caused by the pressure in my ears. Could be a cochlea thingy. Not dying of brain cancer, not rapidly losing my hearing. He just wants to keep an eye on me. Thanks everyone for support!

It's good you got checked by a proper doctor. Symptoms you described could have been serious, and it's great to rule them out.
