Hello i have some questions that i need a hard of hearing person that has went to both a public and deaf school who knows ASL to answer if they would be so kind as to spend some time with me. You can either email me or answer on a reply but its for my deaf culture class. The Questions are:

How do you communicate at a store or restaurant?
What are some tools you use to communicate?
What was your school experience like?
What Cultural or language barriers do you experience at work?
How do you feel about cochlear implants?

If anyone replies it means the world to me and thank you for your time

Need a "hard of hearing" person?

I am completely Deaf. That's with a capital D.

I communicate with my hands. I have this uncanny skill to be able to order/get practically anything I want without writing or speaking.

Tools: Usually my hands, and the Blackberry in rare instances.

School experience: Wonderful. My deaf institute sent me off to college (univ of Colorado) for some computer classes for two years.

Where I work - Interesting question. I work on the brown felt tables at the Ameristar Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado. I play poker for a living. Usually I have an advantage over others because I observe body language, and apply my mathematical skills in order to win. I am very successful in this. There are usually people from all over the world. I've chatted with people from China, Japan, Nepal, all parts of Europe, and many more countries. Some of them don't even speak English. These are the people I get along with the best. Wonderful, really.

I don't think CI's are a necessity at all.

You can either email me or answer on a reply but its for my deaf culture class. I almost fit your criteria. I have some useful residual hearing. And I went to the public schools. Post high school, I spent three years in a program that had several deaf school graduates. :lol:The Questions are:

How do you communicate at a store or restaurant?
Speech, writing, some sign, (people who don't sign pick it up if you are their customer long term, and basic signs are so descriptive , they are often easy to understand.)
What are some tools you use to communicate?
Notebook and pen or notepad of mobile.
What was your school experience like?
Lonely
What Cultural or language barriers do you experience at work?
I don't work too much anymore due to health, but I work with animals. They always understand me.
How do you feel about cochlear implants?
CI are a personal choice for people. I don't want one.
If anyone replies it means the world to me and thank you for your time

Hoping to see you back and talking to us after you collect your data.

I feel so betrayed!
