Hi, I am currently taking a class at my university in disability studies. I am writing a paper that seeks to understand the deaf experience. I was wondering if anybody would be willing to answer a few questions for me. I greatly appreciate it!

Could you explain the difference between Deaf and deaf?

My questions would be...

What has been just your general experience within a hearing society? Have you always been deaf, or is it something that developed over time? How has this affected your schooling, work and social life?

Have you ever experienced bias or discrimination?

How do you primarily identify yourself? Does your identity relate directly to being deaf? Do you belong to any particular groups related to deafness?
 
Deaf is a culture (usually implies using ASL as primary language). deaf deals with the ability to hear or not.
