Help..... I'm no0b cook Seafood....

I don't really know how to cook seafood that much, though. My dad knows how to smoke fresh salmon with his portable smoker. It takes all day to smoke batches of salmon pieces. All you do is mariate it in salt and sugar and water then smoke em with some wood flavor, it may sound easy but you have a bit of practice and experience to smoke them properly. It's really yummy, too! I had some Alaskan smoked salmon when I was in Alaska in late 1980's.

Sequoias is right, you need a smoker to do it and it can be an all day task. Some people prefer to use the old fashioned "smoke house" (little wooden building) method. Nowadays there are a variety of small smokers or portable smokers like Sequoias described. They look kinda like little grills or barrels and the fish is smoked with special wood chips to infuse it with flavor. Hickory wood is popular but there are a lot of different varieties. The smaller or portable smokers can be quite pricey, though. My stepdad does this but I don't really know the exact steps to do it.

One time while watching "Food 911" with Chef Tyler Florence, he was showing the viewers a method for smoking duck on a stove top with only a small roasting pan. I have no idea if this method could be applied to salmon but it seems like it would be a lot quicker and easier if so.
