Hi

Here what happened. Thrusday morning Feb 9, I was chatting with a friend on vp and it was running normal as it always. Then when I got home from work and I couldnt get online cuz there was a problem and I tried to use my vp and not working either. I tried to connect the wire in the right way and still not working. So the next day I want to cable company and the lady said to take the wire from the modem and disconnected from the router to connect the computer. She said if I can get online meaning the problem with the router and if I cant get online meaning the problem with the computer so I found out that I can get online so the problem was router. I emailed to sorenson tech and received their email. This is what they told me to do.

Dear valued customer,

Thank you for contacting Sorenson Communications Tech Support. We apologized it may have be caused by your SR-200 problem. I think that your SorensonVRS router needs to be upgraded the firmware due to a disconnecting prevent. Do not change the Ethernet cable connection. It has to be the same way before it was set up. Meaning the modem goes to the SR-200 router WAN port. The computer and VP-100 can go any port between #1 and #4.

The problem with the disconnection is caused by the SR-200 router firmware. We would like you to upgrade the router firmware and it will stop the disconnection problem.

First use a paper clip and in the back of the router, there is a small RESET hole. Insert the paper clip in the RESET hole and press and hold for at least 30 seconds. Then do the following:

On your computer when connected to the SR-200

In Internet Explorer (NOT AOL Browser) {edited} click Go.
Username “admin” leave password blank, click OK.
Click Tools then click Firmware on the left.
Click on “click here to check for an upgrade on our support site”
Click on “click here for most recent firmware update”
Click “save to disk” and save the file to your desktop Click Tools then
click Firmware again Click the “Browse…” button.
In File Upload window, click on the sr-200_v1.00b13_nml.bin file then click Open Click Apply ‘The device is restarting…” click Continue Firmware Date: should now be 15 Dec 2005

This instruction is for customers using VP-100 and a Sorenson SR-200 Router. If you are using a different Router please see our website: www.sorensonvrs.com/support.php and click on "Knowledge Base" then click on "Routers and Firewalls". Here is the instruction:

1. On the VP select Settings --->Network--->Address
2. Make sure "Obtain an IP address automatically" is off with no X in the box.
3. Change the "IP address:" to {edited}.

IP address: {edited}

Subnet: {edited}

Gateway: {edited}

4.Click “OK”

5. Now you'll see "Public IP" click on the button
6. You will see three options. Make sure your "Use detected public IP address" is selected with a dots (*) in the box.
7. Click "OK"
8. Then go to DNS. Primary should be there (12.xx.xx.xx) and manually add secondary to 12.xx.xx.xx then "Close" then "Close" again back to the original screen.
9. Call 1-801-287-9404 to test your settings to make sure you are able to receive calls from other deaf people and VRS.

Remember, if you don't have a Sorenson SR-200 router then you need to visit the website above. Okay, with a Sorenson SR-200 router follow the steps below

10. Open your internet browser (Internet Explorer) NOT AOL Internet and in the address field type {edited}
11. Type: admin - for the Username field and leave the Password field blank.
12. Now you will see the Sorenson Interface. Click on the "Advance" tab
13. In the "Advance tab you'll see a "DMZ" button on the left, click on the DMZ button.
14. You'll see the address {edited} with a box next to it. In the box type "125".
15. Click on "Enable" then "Apply" then your settings will be saved, click "Continue"
16. Close the Internet browser (Internet Explorer)

If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you,

Look it is the router not the modem. I believe that I have to download the firmware which I am having a hard time to get into the website. I did one time get into the website back in November but now I am having a hard time.

I am thinking that you need to use your "Doctor" software to verify your computer's operating system. I don't know if you have one on your XP Windows, and I don't know what it is called.

Actually, I am using Mac OS X for the Utilities Disk to clean up my computer's problem.

ok. What about a firewall that might cause the problem on her computer?
I believe that she is not supposed to update the old version back in November. She should use the newer version. Right?

I checked your IP number which is from Internet Assigned Numbers Authority in Marina del Rey, California. I am not sure if this is part of arin.net website. You should call your tech support service to make sure that your IP address number is correct because it looks that they changed a number that does not show up because it says {edited} . (I am not familiar this one.)
