Hello there

I am Greek and studying Greek Sign Language for 3 years. I don't have any hearing impairment but I have always been fascinated by this way of communication, that's why I have started studying it. I don't know about ASL but GSL is difficult. In order to be considered proficient one must complete a four- year course and then pass the exams. Then if one wants to become an certified interpreter, one must attend a two- year course. Is the situation similar with ASL? Oh, and another question, hopefully not a silly one, are there difference in the Sign Language in the USA and the Sign Language in Canada?

Canada uses both ASL and LSQ, so there are two different sign languages.
 
:welcome: to AllDeaf forum. Yes, we use ASL in our provinces but Quebec (New France) want to remain in French language to speak and the Deaf people had to learn LSQ which is part of French Sign Language. So we have two of those sign languages everywhere in many of our provinces. :)
