Heathcliffe the giant burrowing cockroach may be world's heaviest insect

Ewww.

Even though they are a different type of Roach. A roach, is a roach in my eyes. They are still ugly and are bugs!

This one reminds me of the Roach in the Men In Black movie! :giggle:

*THUD* I just fainted at the sight of pix

I like roaches. They make neat pets. Especially tropical ones-- they can't survive anywhere, and are clean.

too bad they're illegal in Canada.

They don't smell, they are hypoallergic. Only people that have problems with them are the ones that are allergic to their frass (insect droppings.)

Many tropical roaches, particularly South American ones, cannot climb plastic or glass (although they can climb silicone) so you can keep them without worrying about escapees. If you have enough of them breeding in a cage, you can use them as compost. And a lot of the commonly kept species of roaches (discoid, dubia and so on) cannot fly, so you can handle them. A lot of the tropical ones cannot breed in temperatures lower than 80F, and humidity of less than 70% so infestions are not usually a concern.

Mind you, I hate American and German roaches-- even though I adore the flightless, climbless tropical ones. I think the Australian burrowing roach cannot fly or climb either.

Can you actually pet them without them escaping? :laugh2:

I rather to have something that is more sociable.

The thought of having a pet roach is just way to freaky for me.

I do find certain insects to be interesting. but I also fine certain rocks to be interesting.

Does not mean I will keep it as a pet.

I agree. I would prefer a pet socialible rather than leaving in a cage most of the time.
