Hearing impaired man dead after Surprise home fire
Authorities say a 22-year-old hearing impaired man is dead after an early-morning mobile home fire in Surprise.
The name of the victim hasn't been released yet.
Authorities say the victim is partially deaf and lived at the home that was behind a house where his father lives.
Surprise Fire Department officials say the mobile home was fully engulfed by the time they arrived on the scene.
The victim's father unsuccessfully tried to save his son. The man has been taken to a hospital for treatment of cuts.
The fire broke out around 4 a.m. Thursday at the home located near U.S. 60 and Happy Valley Road.
Authorities say it's still unclear what caused the blaze and whether the home had smoke detectors.
