Orthorexia nervosa. I gotta remember that. The Guardian newspaper reports, "Fixation with healthy eating can be a sign of serious psychological disorder," so I suppose I could just gulp down a Twinkie to combat it. :D

Choosing healthy foods now called a mental disorder

LOL. Actually, this is about the obsession. Obsessions can be about something healthy, or they can be about something negative. Like, someone who is overly obsessed with their health to the degree that they are taking their temp several times a day, monitoring their BP even though they have never had problems, keeping track of any slight symptom, etc,

*looks at half eaten 230g chocolate bar* ummm, i guess i am not obsessed with healthy food then (I LOVE healthy food and rarely eats junk/sweets)

Except it can has negative effects...

Look at how many vegetarians and followers of the paleo diet end up in the ER.

Actually, there is a guy that blogs about his Orthorexia Nervosa and he is completely obsessed with healthy foods that tries to over-control his portions and what he eats. Like for instance he will eat a small handful of nuts for breakfast, one cup of lettuce with vinegar for lunch, and maybe a small cup of grapes for dinner. He is about 5'9" and weighs only 90 pounds. He was also interviewed for one of the news magazines that did a segment on odd disorders.

True. All obsessive behaviors have negative effects.
