'Gunsmoke' Star James Arness Dies at Age 88

“As any policeman today will tell you, it's not the idea of getting the first shot off, it's hitting your target. Often the first guy that shoots misses.” - James Arness

You will be missed!

I didn't even realize he was still alive. He had a very long life. RIP

My kind of guy!...Loved "Gunsmoke", remembered watching it often....RIP...he was one of the best cowboys.

RIP James Arness. I still watch Gunsmoke and it will take some getting used to in knowing he is gone.
By the way, did you know that he was one of the first men to set foot on Anzio Beach on D-Day in WWII? Because of his height, he was ordered off the landing craft before the rest of the troops in order to determine the water depth.

Rest in Peace, James Arness.

I had watched all of his "Gunsmoke" series and t.v. movies related to "Gunsmoke" that went off the air. He was really a wonderful actor and he did look like he had been living out in the Wild West. I am surprised that he was an outdoor man in Minnesota. So no wonder he got that wonderful rugged face that was perfect in the Wild West t.v. series "Gunsmoke". Amazing.

I don't know if his brother Peter Graves is alive or pass away. I still have not heard from him. I really liked him too.

Both brothers are really amazing actors. I don't know where they get that wonderful talents and crafts. Thank you, James and Peter. :thumb:

I still watch " Gunsmoke" on TV! I think I read the show was on the radio first but the guy that was Matt did not fit the role for TV. The role was made for James Arness! He will be missed! RIP Matt Dillon!! I was sad to hear that James has died .

:ty: Wow, that was last year. Oh, bummer! I am sorry about Peter's death. Now that both James and Peter will be together in the spiritual world. They had something common with each other on the acting talents for television programs. :cool2:

Rest in Peace, Peter. :(
