I went to the Support Dogs Graduation tonight with my wife. I met 2 wonderful people there tonight ( Robin ) who is Deaf and was an ASL Teacher, also met (Nancy) who is Robins' Interpreter. We had some great conversations tonight, although I am slow, I was able to talk to Nancy verbally, Robin was very good at reading lips, you really couldn't tell she was Deaf. We all had a great time and I learned a few things tonight as well.

Fun outing with the wife, that is always a good thing. Earned some brownie points.

My wife is staring as a trainer for service animals now, This was a graduation ceremony for the service animals that were placed with their new owners. They had a slideshow of the training and what each dog did for the new owners ( opening fridge, picking up dropped items...ect...) It was really cool to see firsthand the training these dogs go through.
I learned a few new signs as well as a few corrections ( supposedly the ASL instructor I had either did it wrong or didn't do it correctly) but all in all, we had fun. I watched the Terp since I couldn't hear the speakers, a little fast for me but I tried to keep up, I was able to fill in the blanks mostly... ASL is an art all its own. I hope to be more fluent as time passes. The terp gave me her email and sent me some sites to help me as well as some other information, so it was a really good experience for me tonight. I felt a little lost at first then again I felt welcomed and was greeted by everyone and welcomed.

Like when I went to the doctor a year ago, he had a cat and dog in there. The dog sniffed me and the cat jumped on me and started purring and left, then the doc charged me $1000 for the visit, I asked for what? He said the LAB work and the CAT scan wasn't free. lol
