The Maximiliam E. & Marian O. Hoffman Foundation, Inc. awarded $10,000 to the American School for the Deaf's Early Childhood Intervention Program. This program provides the foundation for young deaf and hard of hearing children, from birth to three, throughout Connecticut to acquire language, develop cognition, and prepare for successful formal schooling. The program also assists parents in fulfilling their role as primary caregivers of a child with special needs. Services are primarily home-based and include physical, occupational, speech and language therapy; audiological services; cochlear implant services; and loaner hearing aids.
"We are extremely grateful to the foundation for their generous gift. These funds will assist ASD in preparing young deaf children and their families with school readiness activities and language development opportunities" said Executive Director Edward Peltier.
