The Federation of Malaysian Deaf People Friday urged the government to consider computer subsidies for the disabled.
The federations's President Mohamad Sazali Shaari said the proposal stands to benefit 24,000 people who are deaf.
"Computers are an important communications medium for the deaf especially in enhancing their knowledge," he told Bernama through a sign language interpreter after attending the Second Seminar on the Issues and the Needs of the Deaf Muslims at the Malaysian Islamic Arts Museum here.
The federation launched the e-Pekak website in 2001 to help the deaf members of the society.
