Good idea??

nope! this procedure is quick and cheap - usually ranging from $50-100. Quite a handful of vets volunteer at shelters to spay/neuter them for free as well because it's funded by organizations.

Right! Many do.

oh really? interesting...i never hear about this here in this
town or anywhere. Like i said earlier in my post, its rampant
here in this town so i doubt there is a program for spay/neuter
but they should! I never saw so many cats around here and im sorry
to say but a lot of people had to trap them and call animal control.
I hate that..its so sad.

I noticed that you're from NY... or OK :dunno. in NYC - it's ASCPA, Friends of Animals, Petco, Humane Society of NY, and dozens dozens more. Just like what Jolie said - they breed faster than we can neuter/spay them.... we're just doing the best we can and of course - the fund/donation is limited. :(

TNR - Trap, Neuter, Release - common program in many communities now, as more cats roam for longer periods and become permanently feral <in U.S.> than dogs do, for a variety of reasons. TNR part of feral cat colonies care-taking programs, often where there will be a group of people, either volunteers from a shelter or feral cat rescue, or just themselves as volunteers - who monitor and feed cat colonies. TNR can be considered more humane than actually trying to trap and re-home the cats, as adult ferals are often un-manageable in a human household and really don't do well.
