Love watching Gold Rush Alaska?

Gold Rush Alaska : Discovery Channel

Love the show. The drama. The reality watching those knuckleheads fail and succeed. The Hoffman crew is a glutton for punishment but they seem to be succeeding. Plus two more new crews to show up competing for the gold, the Schnabbles and "Fred."

Yes. It is my one weekly show. Love the scenery, the frustration, the teamwork.

And I love it when they come together with resolve, praying and then mash their hard hats together in the air after that. I just wish that show would be on every day...not every Friday. :pissed:

Oh well....looks like the Hoffmans are finally getting the gold. We'll see how much they can gather before the snow flies.

And now Harness is having health issues. I noticed they weren't showing a lot of him until the visit by his hunnie. I also notice they somehow filter out the mosquitoes from the filming. I think they are quite thick up there, and it is surprising that we don't really notice them.

Sometimes I think that Harness threw his back out with his new girl friend when he took off for a few days break if you get my meaning.

I think they'll show more of that next week on a one-hour behind the scenes. Which means more waiting on how much gold they got. :/

Mosquitoes are notoriously thick up there. Even drives Moose batty in their effort to run away from a thick cloud of mosquitoes.

Yeah, he probably did, especially when you look at his "love parlour" accomodations. :giggle:

My brother went on a couple of fishing trips in northern Manitoba, and they were constantly buzzing and swarming; he had video tapes of his quest for huge fish. I imagine they are also hideous on the Klondike.

Klondike history is pretty interesting but a lot of sad tales to go with those who have died there.

I wonder if OFF! mosquito repellant will work up there in Alaska when the weather warms up?

I still have Muskol in my tackle box; 100% DEET. I only use it for those really nasty times, like canoe trip into Quetico. I had bug net, but sometimes it is no good, such as when cooking (very fast facial fire if it caught).

For some reason I don't get as many mosquito bites as my wife or kids whenever we go out into the woods.

Haven't watched the show yet....but reminds me of that song and movie that John Wayne starred in...."North to Alaska".....

"Big Sam left Seattle...
in the year of 1892...
with George as his partner....
and Brother Billy, too...Go North...to Alaska...Go North...the Gold Rush is on."....

You can watch it on Netflix. It has captions.

I watch this show and I shake my head at the miners' ineptness. They won't make it this year.

Things are starting to look much better for the Hoffman crew now. Too bad winter is approaching soon. Dakota crew is also making progress. Good stuff.

Yep. And like like the new show Bering Sea Gold, too. Looks like Cut #3 in Gold Rush looked promising. We'll have to wait til next week to find out.

Have not checked out the new show yet. Will investigate.

The Unsinkable Molly Brown and her husband made it big from the Gold Rush in the 1800s.
