How else can I use Ojo?
Since Ojo uses your same home or office phone number, your friends, family and co-workers can call you and leave a video message at anytime. The Ojo holds 20 minutes of video messages so you will never miss another important call. You can also place direct calls to anyone with an Ojo. Hearing friends and family members of Snap!VRS subscribers may purchase an Ojo – currently only $349 with a $150 mail-in rebate - and subscribe to the Ojo Service . That way, the Snap!VRS subscribers may also share the Ojo experience with friends and loved ones. Monthly subscritption cost for friends and family is $14.95 and includes unlimited worldwide Ojo-to-Ojo video calls with video messaging.

It is not Motorola anymore. It's WorldGate now http://www.wgate.com/

and it is NOT free as per this page at bottom; you have to purchase the device and pay the monthly service fee;
http://www.snapvrs.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogsection&id=6&Itemid=65

 read carefully!

since VP-100 is SIP or H.323 complaint and OjO is only SIP based device (communication not codec)

OjO use H.264 video codec while VP-100/DVC-1000 use H.263 but both use QCIF video protocol so should not be a problem. See other thread I posted regarding "streaming"

Ohhhh forget you... xentra... you don't get it.

See this:
http://www.wgate.com/about/ it mention nothing about Motorola.

If you click http://www.motorola.com/ojo It is just plain page with no copyright at bottom just a link to OjO Service at http://www.ojoservices.com/ and there it just mention WorldGate Service at bottom then you click "Legal" (http://www.ojoservices.com/legal/) it says nothing about Motorola. WorldGate Service NOW own OjO not Motorola.

As for intellectual property rights. it only says that if you see Motorola Logo then it is trademark of Motorola that's it. it does not means Motorola still own OjO.

NOW see this press release about OjO and Motorola.

How much does Snap!VRS cost?
Deaf and hard-of-hearing users incur no charges for the Ojo video phone and VRS and/or direct Ojo-to-Ojo calls. Hearing friends and family members pay only $349 with a $150 mail-in rebate for the Ojo video phone and $14.95 per month for unlimited worldwide Ojo-to-Ojo video calls.

That means we are deaf is free charges.

For hearing and family charges for 14.95. Stupid!

I am not interesting.

7 inches screen. That is small!

Use VP-100 or D-link can go any size of your tv.

For the not-so technical minded:

1) Ojo uses only uses the phone line. Other phones that I've seen that use video over phone usually have poor quality.

Hey Dennis,

How do you know the Ojo is only use for the telephone system?

GettingStarted_Setup.gif

The Ojo video phone works with cable, DSL, or other high bandwidth broadband connections to provide the highest quality video transmission (1/6 of a second delay), which is essential when sign language is the primary mode of communication.

I already applied for it. See if it works or not.

I can't believe any of you VP guys complaining over this Ojo vp. None of you have tried to test it yet....

That is exact what I am doing! I really doubt they would work with just any VP, but I gotta to see 4 myself first.

It was a mistake. I was only looking at the silver Ojo and it clearly stated it used the phone line, and I overlooked that it also had an ethernet port.

I still don't think that it's all that phenomenal or exciting. Good luck, I hope you get it and prove us wrong!

Yes, you are correct for charging to hearies monthly. Yet, Snap!VRS does not charge to any Deafie! Better than nothing.

If you want to use a simple videophone for your family. Try this Dlink DVC-2000 videophone.
DVC-2000_main.jpg

It only costs about $350 for only on DSL/H.S. Internet cable.

I don't think I would want Ojo. I prefer to see the person I am speaking to on my big TV, not that tiny little thing.

Really, you really want to admire your man on your big screen TV! (snickering)

We were told that the VP convos would be monitored and that if we did anything like that we would be in trouble for it... :dunno:

They could if they want to, but suppose they busted you, then you know they broke the confidential and code of ethics, would Sorenson want that news to spread around eh? More likely you cant do any lewd activity while using VRS directly, but point to point like you and your boyfriend... who cares? Anyway, I'd be more safe using Dlink. :-D I was just pulling your leg, but the truth is the chance of you getting caught is pretty much like winning a lottery ticket.

I thought that if we got busted we would lose our videophones... :dunno:

But thanks...lol..
